Farmhouse Kitchen Sign

We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel that was supposed to be finished before Christmas.  It didn’t happen, but I know the wait will be worth it, and I will share my farmhouse kitchen with you soon!

The remodel included new molding around the ceiling and floor, new wooden floor, sheetrock and ceiling.  I noticed one day, the workers were piling up the molding to carry to the landfill.  Whoa!, hold on there, I can use that!  I heard my husband say, “I was afraid she would notice that”.  He knows me well.

I got up this morning and saw the molding on the deck.  I’ve been working a lot lately, and haven’t had anytime to craft.  I gathered up a piece of molding, a sample of red paint I had purchased, and a box of junk pieces.

I gave the piece of molding two coats of red paint.  Red is a re-occurring color in my Farmhouse Kitchen, and in other rooms.  I love the barnwood red color.  This is just the first coat.

I then sanded the corners and edges to give it a worn look.

I found a couple of heavy metal hooks that were perfect for hanging items.

Attached them with a screwdriver and screws.

An old kitchen strainer was added and now I have a great farmhouse kitchen sign I can use for mugs, keys, pot holders or a towels.Farmhouse Kitchen Sign
