Create a Gnome Garden in a Basket

garden charmer charm I belong to a group of great bloggers called The Garden Charmers. Occasionally, we are challenged to create a post to be included in a board.  Melissa, Empress of Dirt, sent out a call for fairy gardens, and fairy themed posts. I have never been a fairy person, but I do collect gnomes which I have both outside and in my office.

I headed to the Barn Nursery in Chattanooga because I knew they had an extensive selection of fairy garden items.  Containers, figures, plants and all kind of accessories. But they are expensive!  I know now why their completed fairy gardens cost so much.  I decided on a gnome figure, and then went in search for a container.

I found the perfect containers.  Little moss covered baskets. And they were only $2.00.  Perfect for a “thrifty” garden like me.

Now to gather my supplies.

Gnome basket supplies

Moss from my side yard, along with acorns, succulents and the little Gnome.

Add soil, plants, water, cover with moss, and water again. Place the little Gnome and his acorns in place.

Gnome Basket

Finished gnome basket that can be moved and placed anywhere. You could also take this inside and place in a sunny window.

That’s adorable, I’m finding an attraction to gnomes since I’ve got older and my garden is incomplete without them!
