While I’m not the best person to talk about tech (I have trouble hosting a zoom meeting!), I do appreciate the convenience that modern technology brings. Technology has really come a long way over the years, and nowadays, there’s something new coming out almost every day that solves problems we didn’t even know we had.
One area where tech has made a huge difference is in the garden. If you start looking into all the cool gadgets available for your garden, you might be surprised at just how many options there are. Many of these things weren’t even on the radar just a decade ago, but now they’re here—and often more affordable than you might think.
Let’s talk about some of the cool garden tech you might want to consider for 2025. From robot lawnmowers to smart sprinklers, there’s plenty of tech that can help make gardening easier and even more fun.
Exterior Lighting
Lighting is one of those things that often gets overlooked in the garden, but it can totally change the look of a space. Whether you want to highlight your deck, light up a garden path, or just add some ambiance for evening garden time, lighting is key.
With modern day tech, you can install smart lights which you can control on your phone or through the use of your voice, speaking to a system like Alexa or Google Home.
Robot Lawn Mowers
I have to admit, robot lawnmowers are pretty incredible. Robot lawn mowers are exceptional and do all the heavy lifting (or should I say mowing?) for you. They’re automatic, and you can set them on a timer to mow the lawn for you every day or a couple of times a week. Depending on the model, you can control them with an app, choose from different cutting heights, and some even come with rain sensors and anti-slope tech. If you’re tired of pushing a mower around, these could be a total game-changer! Just think Roomba vacuum on a larger scale!
Smart Sprinklers
Smart sprinklers are another must-have. They save you time, water, and money—all while helping your garden thrive. You can control them with your phone or connect them to Alexa or Google Home for easy scheduling. There are different sizes to suit various garden sizes, and while I don’t advocate overhead sprinklers for your vegetables, they are a lifesaver for large lawns and there’s a smart sprinkler that’ll work for you. My advice? Always check reviews before buying to make sure the product has worked well for others. Amazon is a great place to start looking!
Rodent Control
While I have been lucky not to have experienced rodents in the garden, for those who have there are some tech solutions to help you out. Whether it’s digging up your beds or nibbling on your plants some high-tech solutions like ultrasonic repellents that emit high-frequency sounds to deter rodents. But high tech is not always the answer, sometimes it may be easier to get rodent control in to do it for you.
