A number of herbs are enjoyed for their relaxing fragrance and none is better known than lavender. You can create a fragrant lavender infused water that can be added to the final rinse water when you are laundering your pillow cases, sheets, and pajamas. This will leave a light relaxing scent to help you fall asleep.
Directions for Lavender Infused Water
- 4 cups boiling water
- 4 Tablespoons lavender leaves and flowers
Pour boiling water over herbs. Steep for thirty minutes. Strain and pour into rinse water. Store any extra in a class jar. You can also store in a spray bottle to spritz on your sheets and pillow cases prior to bedtime.
You don’t have to limit the herbs to lavender. Other fragrant herbs you could use are lemon balm, rose geranium, or rosemary.
Another way I have used dried lavender buds to scent my sheets and pillowcases is by making dryer bags. Fill a small muslin bag with dried buds and place in the dryer with your laundry. Dryer bags can be used 2-3 times before discarding the buds.
These also make great gifts to tuck into gift baskets.
You can purchase some of the ingredients on Amazon. I am an affiliate. Any purchase you make through one of the links will provide me with a small commission.
This is the lavender I purchase. It can also be used for lavender tea or cookies. The little glass bottle is for spritzing plants but would look pretty sitting on a bedside table.
