I don’t drink alcohol very often, but I’ve been seeing a lot about Dry January lately. If you decided to take the challenge — or you just want something refreshing without alcohol — this is a great time to have a few fun, flavorful options on hand.
One of my favorite things to use in mocktails and cocktails alike? Herbs from the garden. They add fresh flavor without being overpowering, and many are easy to grow in containers or small garden spaces.
Herbs like mint, basil, rosemary, lavender, and lemon balm are perfect for drinks. Lemon balm, in particular, has a mild lemon flavor that works beautifully in mocktails and infused waters. It’s gentle, refreshing, and doesn’t need much to shine

Lemon Balm Mojito Mocktail
This is a simple, alcohol-free favorite that feels special without being complicated:
-
5 fresh lemon balm leaves
-
½ lime, juiced
-
1 teaspoon honey or agave
-
Sparkling water
Muddle the lemon balm with lime juice and honey. Add ice, top with sparkling water, and stir gently. That’s it — fresh, light, and perfect for Dry January.
