Metal Chicken Makeover

A friend called and said she was “downsizing” some of her junk, making room for a classroom in her little log shed, where she was teaching sewing.  This is her “sewing bees” sign in front.

She wanted to know if I would like to come and take a look. Of course! She has great garden junk and I needed some things to sell at the lawn and garden show I am attending. There was a lot of great stuff, at even greater prices, so I took her up on a buy one buy all deal, and packed it all in the car. There was lots of little signs, rakes, shovels, a bench, a little tricycle pulling a wagon, a metal hen box, and this little chicken packed in with all the stuff.

I knew mauve and blue would NEVER sell, so I decided to give her a little makeover. First, I spray painted her white to give me a blank slate for painting.

Reds and yellow are my favorite colors, and they were perfect for this little hen. I gathered my paints, and brushes, and started to work.

And here she is struttin’ her stuff. She loves her new colors.  Even though I sprayed her with a clear sealer after completely dried, I think it would be best if she stayed on the porch or covered deck.

Your chick makeover turned out great. I’m sure it will be a quick sell at the show.
