I have a small herb garden at the side of my patio, and have plans to add a few new herbs this year. I was also thinking about placing a new herb sign in the garden, and wanted to create one myself. I began looking through some junk that I had lying around the house.
I found a few shovel heads I had purchased at the Summerville, Georgia Trade Day last Tuesday, an old brick, and a broken terra cotta pot. (I don’t throw anything away, I might could use it). I started with the shovel and using a chalkboard pin, (you can wipe it off), I outlined the word “Herbs” using stencils. Next, I just filled in using crafters paint.
After it was dry, I sprayed it with clear sealer since it would be outside.
The terracotta pot, was made by tracing the stencils with a black sharpie, and spraying with the clear sealer. This was a large pot I had dropped while attempting to get it off the top of a storage cabinet. The top rim was perfect for the word “Herbs”, and it still sat upright.
A few bricks from a previous project were at the side of a fence, so I brought one of those out, and again, traced the word using a sharpie, and filling in the stencil.
So, here you have them…..an herb marker trio. Now, to decide which one I will use.
