Summer’s Here – Let’s Get the Kids Outside and Growing!
School’s out, the sun is shining, and it’s the perfect time to get kids outdoors and away from their screens. Gardening is one of the best hands-on activities to help children learn about nature, responsibility, and where their food comes from—all while having fun and getting a little dirty in the process!

That’s why I was thrilled to be featured as an expert in a recent Redfin article titled “Grow, Learn, Play: Hands-On Backyard Gardening Activities for Kids.” The article shares creative ways to get children involved in gardening, whether you have a backyard, balcony, or a few containers on the patio.
The Redfin article is packed with fun, hands-on gardening ideas from a variety of experts—including educators, garden coaches, and plant lovers just like me.
Even better? Several of the contributors, myself included, have shared free downloadable resources to help you get started. My contribution includes the “How to Plant a Pizza Garden” guide—a fun and flavorful way to teach kids how to grow ingredients they’ll actually want to eat!
Check it out for inspiring ideas to make gardening a family adventure this summer!
