St. Patricks Day Luck of the Irish Wreath

I love a challenge, and when Megan Chamberlin of C’mon Get Crafty challenged a group of bloggers to create a St Patrick’s Day craft from dollar store items, (total cost less than $10.00) I signed up. My St. Patrick’s Day Luck of the Irish Wreath included a trip to the Dollar Tree and Michaels. Total cost of my wreath? $6.00. I had the wreath, and horseshoes, so that kept the cost down.

If  you follow my blog and Facebook page regularly, you know I love flea markets and junking.  These old horse shoes were perfect to represent the Luck of the Irish.  My husband reminded me to place the open end up so that your luck “doesn’t run out”.

St Patricks Day Luck of the Irish Wreath Wired HoreshoeI wired the horse shoe on using rusty wire, and would cover it later.

Double Horsehoes for St. Patricks Day Luck of the Irsh WreathI  placed the second horseshoe on, using the same method to wire it on.  Open side up of course!

Using my thrift store glue gun, I glued golden coin onto foam shamrocks.

And, glued the shamrocks onto the wreath.

Next came more gold coins glued together and  a shamrock bow to finish it off.

Using wire to secure the horseshoes is so smart! I love tying in all of these “lucky” elements. Turned out beautiful!

Great rustic wreath, esp. the use of “real” lucky horseshoes!
